“You may delay, but time will not.” – Benjamin Franklin
The joys of summer are upon us. While we all have our favorite sights, sounds and smells of the season, it’s also a reminder that 2014 has reached its halfway point. Time flies.
Let’s roll back the calendar six months or so. Did you make a New Year’s resolution? If you’re like most Americans, your personal pledge was broken a long time ago. But that ok. It’s never too late to try again, and you don’t have to wait ‘til next year.
According to a Harris poll, “Get a New Job” was one of the top resolutions in 2014. Did you make that pledge? Did you land the new job? If your answers are “yes” and “no,” it’s time to reassess. What made you aspire to a new job in the first place? You may be genuinely unhappy in your job or, more likely, it’s simply time to move on. The possible reasons are endless. You may be primed for a well-deserved advancement, or you’re interested in relocating to a new and exciting place or to be nearer to family, or you’re just ready to try something new. Whatever your unique situation, it’s a good time to reflect on why you haven’t switched jobs as you had hoped. Change is exciting, but it can also be hard. Sometimes it’s easy, and totally understandable, to become complacent. Also, let’s face it – it can be tough out there. You may be actively searching, but just haven’t snared that new job yet.
